Pestrop – An Ugandan story (2018)

Even for smallholder farmers in Uganda the ‘spray more, produce more’ logic has become the norm and generous pesticide use without adequate protection is a widespread reality. The film follows David, a farmer from Wakiso district near Kampala, as he becomes selected to be part of a Swiss TPH-led study that looks into the health and environmental effects of pesticides. The film gives voice to Ugandan researchers and government officials and accompanies David on his journey as he discovers the dangers of his practice and finally sees a practical alternative for his farm when he meets an old school friend.
