Objective: Contribute to bridging the gap between knowledge and practise through the development of an appropriate youth employment course for University level studies and integrating it into selected Universities’ curricula through the creation of a “University Network on Youth Employment”.

Risk governance in emerging economies and developing countries can be improved. Investments in these countries for creating more effective risk policies, regulation and overall risk culture can provide rapid and cost‐effective returns. This IRGC programme, to be conducted in cooperation with regional network partners, aims to raise awareness and build capacity for improving risk governance in countries involved in economic and cultural globalisation.
An Investigation into the Factors that Enable the Global Shift from Mercury to Mercury Free Products

Mercury in products represents 1/3 of total global mercury consumption. Transition costs, social and legislative factors that will enable the shift in the manufacturing to mercury-free products will inform the ongoing intergovernmental negotiation process in the lead to a mercury legally binding instrument. Objective: Investigate the factors that drive manufacturers to enable the shift in manufacturing mercury free products Methodology: Analysis of market, socio-economic,and legislation factors

UNHCR's Policy Development and Evaluation Service (PDES) would be interested in establishing partnerships with academic institutions working in the area of refugees, migration and humanitan action.

Artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) is practiced in at least 70 countries globally. It is a complex global development issue, often resulting in difficult social circumstances and environmental destruction. ASGM is the largest demand sector for mercury globally, and there is increased global attention on the issue because of the current negotiation of a global mercury treaty. This research will investigate the legal status of ASGM globally, including the legal status of mercury use.
General Research Area
The project complements and build on UNEP's work to reduce exposure risks from lead and cadmium in addition to other emerging policy issues identified by the international community i.e. Governments, intergovenmental organizations, industry and research and academic institutions.
